Welcome

umwlogo3sm.gif

The organized unit of the UNITED METHODIST WOMEN shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know GOD and to experience freedom as whole persons through JESUS CHRIST; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global mnistrieis of the church.

WOMEN, CHILDREN, AND YOUTH are most often the ones left out of GOD’S feast. Too often, they are the poorest of the poor. Through their faithfulness to GOD’S mission, UNITED METHODIST WOMEN members have committed themselves and their gifts to ministries that help relieve suffering and improve the quality of life for women, children, and youth.

The understanding of the total program of the WOMEN’S DIVISION as a mission becomes very important as funds are received and dispersed.

Without a clear understanding of the PURPOSE of THE UNITED METHODIST WOMEN by its members and the whole church, the entire mission of the church suffers. The members of the UNITED METHODIST WOMEN of HIBBEN CHURCH are very dedicated to the mission of women and children.

The United Methodist Women, through the Methodist and Evangelical United Brethren, has been organized for and involved in mission on behalf of women, children, and youth for over 125 years. In 1973 following the uniting of the Methodist and Evangelical United Brethren churches, the various women's mission groups merged to create United Methodist Women.

This is a nationwide organization.  We have a monthly meeting of the Executive Board as well as monthly "Circle" meetings and other scheduled events.  A yearly schedule of events can be found under UMW Publications located in the right column of this page. All women of the church are urged to participate in these times of fellowship, worship, and learning.

UMW Pin of Special Recognition - 2011

kathryn_norma.jpgFor over 52 years, Hibben has been blessed with the talent and dedicated service of Norma Taylor, our church pianist. Not only has she gifted us with her faithful presence, but also with her graciousness and willingness to share her love of music. As a token of our appreciation, Norma was presented the United Methodist Women’s Pin of Special Recognition.

Kathryn Hunter, Pat Cronk and Shirley Cauthen were honored to make the presentation on March 17th at Norma’s home. Congratulations and thank you from all of the Hibben family!
