Welcome to Hibben's Youth Page
If you're a 7th - 12th grader and you're not actively involved in Hibben's youth ministry...YOU'RE MISSING OUT! What could be better than meeting new friends, playing fun games, taking amazing trips, eating, laughing, learning, and growing Check out these opportunities, and join in the fun:
In the spring of 2012, a group of dedicated volunteers, many of them public educators or Sunday School teachers, gathered to set about the process of creating Educational Standards for Christian Education at Hibben UMC. The resulting document will serve as a "roadmap" in the planning of activities, studies, and small groups for children ages birth - 18 years. At each age level, we strove to answer the question, "What does discipleship look like at the age?" Our prayer is that the standards contained in this document will be an encouragement to families as they make Christian Education a priority, and that it will serve to challenge teachers and volunteers as they interact with students. Want to know what your child will be learning at every age when they attend Hibben's children and youth activities? Check out the following PDF document, and prepare to join us on an amazing journey!
Educational Standards for Christian Education
Each Sunday morning from 9:15 - 10:15am, youth at Hibben enjoy a time of Bible Study in a small group environment. Lead by a staff of dedicated volunteers, Sunday School offers the chance for students to seek and find the Living God, and to come to understand more how the Biblical truths of long ago still apply in our lives today. We periodically take a break from the studying to enjoy a time of fellowship during "Breakfast Sundays", and we always welcome the input of students regarding what they'd like to study. Classroom locations are located in the right-hand margin of this page. Bring your Bible and come this Sunday!
United Methodist Youth Fellowship
The United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) is designed for youth 7th -12th grades. We meet each Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Christian Life and LearningCenter and we’d love for you to join us!
Each UMYF meeting includes dinner, games, and a lesson or Bible study. In addition to traditional Bible study, we examine social issues like environmentalism, dating, busyness, parent/sibling/friend relationships, encouragement, and more - all in a Biblical context. UMYF meetings are a great chance to hang out with other teens in a fun, inclusive environment.
But it doesn’t stop there. We also take the show on the road for mission projects, trips, retreats and other outings. Our activities are designed to strengthen relationships and to bring the Bible to life for you so you can develop your Christian walk now.
Want proof of all the fun we’re having? Check out the youth blog, H.Y.P.E.R. (Hibben Youth and Parent Event Report) at www.hibbenhyper.blogspot.com.
So what are you waiting for? We’re a community of youth and adults who are eager to support you in your Christian walk, and we can’t wait to meet you!
